LIVELIHOOD

The idea of Foresight Youth Development evolved and developed around the concept of Positive Youth Development (PYD) which refers to all efforts to provide opportunities for youth to enhance their interest, skills and abilities for better livelihood. Foresight set up a Rural Development Initiative called “Nav-Prabhanam“. The idea was to provide connectivity to rural youth on account of Knowledge/Skills, Electronic & Economic by offering best training to prepare them to earn their livelihoods. The initiative got support under different initiatives from Universities, Industry and Government.

IT Lab for Rural Youth with support from University of Pennsylvania, USA

IT FOR EMPLOYABILITY

The program was part of Pennsylvania University program with NILM, Lodhi Road, New Delhi to take ICT in rural areas and is managed by young university research students as part of their project. All planning & project facilitation is done by NILM as part of their association with this American University. With their support, Foresight was able to provide IT training to hundreds of youth every year thereby linking them with suitable placement.

IT for under privileged with CII under Affirmative Action Plan

CSR FOR EMPLOYABILITY

This was an initiative by Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) for the social well-being of the underprivileged. To carry forward the mandate, a National Council for Affirmative Action has been set up under the Chairmanship of The President, CII to guide and oversee the program for which the proposed steps are grouped under four heads, viz., Education, Entrepreneurship Development, Employability & Capacity Building and Ethics at the Workplace.

IMPACT: Foresight joined hands with CII and developed a dedicated six-month program in IT Skills integrated with Soft Skills for youth belong to SC/OBC communities.

Kharkhoda, District Sonipat (Haryana) – Program was run successfully for four years from year 2008-2011 continuously with 100 candidates each year from SC/OBC communities were trained. About 68% candidates were linked to placement post successful completion of their program. Program was sponsored by Glaxo Smith Kline (GSK) under their CSR initiative.

Gohana, District Sonipat (Haryana) – Program run successfully for two years from 2009-2010 continuously wherein 50 candidates from SC/OBC communities were trained in each year. About 55% candidates were linked to placement post successful completion of their program. Program was sponsored by Glaxo Smith Kline (GSK) under their CSR initiative.

Rohtak, District Rohtak (Haryana) – Program run successfully for one year & 50 candidates were trained from SC/OBC communities. About 86% candidates were linked to placement post successful completion of their program. Program was sponsored by Laxmi Industries under CSR initiative.
